FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Explore In-Depth Explanations and Insights to Help You Navigate Our Offerings. Everything You Need to Know.

Can the Seahorse Launch & Stow System be used for Kayaks and Paddle Boards?

Yes, the seahorse kayak launch system works equally well for paddle boards as it does for kayaks. This makes it an essential part of your Kayak dock system, ensuring easy and safe launching and storage for both watercraft types.

How does this kayak launch accommodate kayaks with Peddle Drives or Fin Drives?

We offer pass-through cradles designed to safely accommodate kayaks with fin or peddle drives, allowing you to leave the drives attached while using the kayak launch for dock. Customers may also choose to remove their drives before placing the craft in the cradle.

Is the Kayak Lift compatible with Jet Skis or inflatable boats?

Unfortunately, the Kayak Lift will not work for jet skis. It can, however, store certain inflatable boats with a maximum weight up to approximately 600 lbs.

What are the standard bay widths for the Launch & Stow cradles and how does this affect kayak storage?

The standard width for each kayak bay is 36 inches. This generous width provides ample room for most models. If your kayak is wider, custom-sized cradles can be manufactured to perfectly accommodate your watercraft, optimizing your kayak storage solution.

Can a Double Kayak Cradle be used to store just one kayak or paddle board on my kayak dock?

The Launch & Stow is designed to secure watercraft safely on their side. While it is physically possible to use a double cradle for a single craft, we recommend reaching out to Seahorse Docking to ensure proper security and weight distribution guidance when using only one bay on a double cradle on your kayak dock.

Is the kayak lift system tide adjusting for fluctuating water levels, making it the Best kayak launch system?

Yes. The system's float auto-levels the launch, ensuring it remains at the perfect boarding height regardless of significant tidal or lake level changes. This feature is a key reason many consider it the Best kayak launch system available.

What is the difference between the Fixed Dock Launch & Stow and the floating kayak dock Launch & Stow?

The Fixed Dock Launch & Stow utilizes an internal float system that travels up and down on the fixed structure to automatically adjust to the tide.

The floating kayak dock Launch & Stow is mounted directly to a floating dock, which naturally rises and falls with the water level, making it ideal for high-tidal areas.

How does the kayak lift for dock handle the vertical distance from the dock to the water?

The launch is designed to provide a maximum lowering capability of 5 feet from the side of the dock. Our standard beam lengths range from 7 to 12 feet, ensuring that the kayak lift for dock can cover the distance from the deck to the water level at low tide.

Do you offer solutions if my dock is more than 5 feet above the water level at low tide?

Yes. Our system's beam lengths range from 7 to 12 feet, which ensures that we can accommodate distances greater than 5 feet from the dock's decking to the water level at low tide, making the launch accessible at any water level.

Can I leave my kayaks and paddle boards on the lift all season long for kayak easy launch?

A: Your kayaks and paddle boards can remain secured on the lift all season, providing kayak easy launch access. However, during heavy wind storms or named storms, we strongly recommend removing the watercraft from the Launch and Stow for safety.

What are the kayak dock system materials constructed from?

The kayak dock system is built from high-quality, marine-grade materials to ensure durability, specifically 6063 aluminum and 316L stainless steel. This choice provides superior resilience against harsh marine environments.

What are the key differences between the Launch & Stow V1 and the Pro Series kayak lift for dock?

The Pro Series is the enhanced model, featuring superior corrosion resistance, new roller wheel-style mounts, and stainless steel winches for both 90-degree kayak stow and for lifting the float entirely out of the water. The V1 is an economical kayak lift for dock version, using powder-coated winches (not recommended for saltwater), and does not have the capability to lift the float out of the water.

How do I determine the correct style mount for my kayak dock or seawall to ensure proper dock kayak launch?

To ensure you select the appropriate mounting bracket, the best approach is to send Seahorse Docking a picture of where you plan to install the Launch & Stow (e.g., your fixed dock, seawall, bulkhead, or piling). They will then recommend the best option for your specific dock kayak launch setup.

Is the kayak launch system designed for DIY installation?

While the system is designed for ease of use, detailed installation guidance is typically provided upon purchase. For specific information regarding a DIY installation process for the kayak launch for dock, please contact Seahorse Docking directly.

  • We are very pleased with our new kayak rack. The installation was straight forward but will be much easier with a hammer drill. The kayak rack is very well designed and constructed. It is very easy to use even for one person which gives us much more time on the water with our kayaks!
